3D Sculptural Face Paintings

During my study abroad experience in Florence, Italy, I frequently visited the Uffizi Gallery, where one intriguing addition was the 3D model of Botticelli’s painting, “The Birth of Venus.” Designed for visitors with low to no vision, it provided a unique way to interact with the artwork. Inspired by this 3 dimensional artwork, I endeavored to sculpt a painting to replicate the shadows and highlights of a face. This led to the creation of a series for a client who commissioned me for a birthday gift. Since then, I’ve delved into experimenting with the fusion of paint and other mediums, such as plaster.
